Project Overview

The Sha Tin to Central Link (SCL) will traverse several districts. It will serve the New Territories, Kowloon and Hong Kong Island.

Since the SCL will traverse the developed urban areas of the territory, most of the tunnels and stations will be constructed underground. The construction works include excavation of all rail tunnels, pedestrian subways and underground stations (Kai Tak Station, To Kwa Wan Station, Ma Tau Wai Station and Exhibition Station) as well as the extension of existing Hung Hom and Diamond Hill Stations and stabling sidings, viaducts and an elevated station (Hin Keng Station).

The Project comprises of two parts;

  • Tai Wai to Hung Hom Section will extend the existing Ma On Shan Line from Tai Wai to the West Rail Line via East Kowloon to form the "East West Corridor".
  • Hung Hom to Admiralty Section will extend the East Rail Line across the harbour to Wan Chai North and Admiralty to form the "North South Corridor".

The SCL route total length of 17Km will introduce and involve 10 new stations at Tai Wai, Hing Keng, Diamond Hill, Kai Tak, To Kwa Wan, Ma Tau Wai, Ho Man Tin, Hung Hom, Exhibition and Admiralty.
