Project Highlights

Hong Kong Strategic Sewage Disposal Scheme (SSDS) Stage 1 involves the provision of a system of deep tunnels for transporting to a central treatment works wastewater collected from a number of catchments around Victoria Harbour. For the SSDS Stage 1 works, about 24 km of tunnels have been excavated in hard rock at depths ranging from about 80 to 150 m below Victoria Harbour and the surrounding heavily developed areas of Kowloon and Hong Kong. Five tunnel boring machines (TBM's) with diameters ranging from 3.2 m to 4.3 metres were used to excavate the tunnels.

Paul Y ITC - SELI Joint Venture is driving three of the seven tunnels by TBM, 10.1 Kilometers, excavated diameter up to 4.3 metres with a finished diameter of 1.2M, 13M and 1.35 twin respectively with the tunnel lining achieved with in-situ concrete.

The Company provided the concrete lining system design, specialist supervision, labour and personnel training and associated underground services.

The design mix used enabled the concrete to be delivered to the advancing slip form by underground rolling stock bullets and pumped using a retracting railed pump assembly there enabled continuous pouring 24/7.
